When a new vehicle make/model is manufactured the car go's through many test to make sure it is safe for the road and the drivers...crash test, seat belt test, air bag test, brake test, the list go's on. Manufacturers work out all the kinks and potential problems of a model before it goes into full production. The vehicle must meet established government safety standards, that will stand up to normal consumer use. Manufacturers cant just make a new model and put it on the production line and out to the car dealers...strict guidelines must be followed. The same standards apply for vehicles that are made for corporations that see to the transport of there customers.
Its unfortunate that there are some kinks that are missed resulting in recalls and injuries..but they were first tested which lead to the safety of millions. Many other items we use daily: Semi conductors, medications, cosmetic products, multiple products. They must be first tested before the public has access to them, right?
But there's one thing put out to the public by our Government that wasn't tested/evaluated..The Sex Offender Registry. You can search to your hearts content and you will not locate an Established Government study proving that the registry helps protect the public! But search and read..there are many that prove it doesn't.
In his first term, and Less the six months prior to the 1996 election, President Clinton was approached by concerned mothers and signed Megans law, an amendment to the Jacob Wetterling act, into effect which set guidelines for the state statues, requiring states to notify the public enacting sex offender notification and community notification..The (Public) sex offender registry. There he was, approached by parents concerned over the horrible sexual assault and murder of Megan Kanka and Jacob Wetterling.
There he was with two choices: 1) Leave the registry the way it is, wait while contacting a team of certified treatment specialist in the field, sex crime experts then like the current Dr Alissa Ackerman.. Dr James Cantor, sex researcher and Psychologist..Eric Janus, law professor..James E Stark phD, a specialist in sexual offender evaluation and treatment.. Constitutional law Attorneys that defend the rights and freedom of U.S citizens..a team to do research on the matter with their study/evaluation if a public registry will help protect the public..or 2) sign the act. It is, in my opinion, that he signed the act in order to receive votes needed for a second term. A guaranteed second term with the "swipe of a pen". I mean, what parents are going to vote him in a second term if he puts a delay on signing a registry into effect that will "protect the Children?" Our Government, without proof, just made a new and put it on the "production line." The new political tool to obtain votes has begun.
That is what the registry is, a political tool. It protects no one.
