What does a WAR Moratorium look like? Let me say it is challenging! Why?
Because the 'other descriptive words' began their written and spoken journey in 1994 and have continued to be the catalyst for degradation harm and has annihilated the health and hope of our families. So, now we can stay where we are or we can light that fire of change and pass it on to others. How do we begin?
Reframe our message using people-first language:
A person required to register
A citizen required to register
A child required to register
A teen required to register
A person with a historical inappropriate offense
A person with a historical sexual offense
Just as other human beings have the right to not be defined by their worst mistake so do we. So we can keep on ping-ponging with lawsuits or educate the masses. As the saying goes:
“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” -President Barack Obama
